UNDERPASSES
Dairy Tech underpasses are designed to engineers' specifications to allow safe and easy movement of stock
and farm traffic under roadways.
The Dairy Tech concrete underpass is known for
its adaptability, strength and permanence – and rapid installation
after excavation by using precast concrete slabs.
It is comprised of precast walls and roof, with
the only concrete poured on site being for the floor (on Dairy Tech
steel mesh) and along the roof edge to strengthen and seal the
roof/wall join.
Strong and adaptable
After excavation of the site, Dairy Tech
designed and manufactured concrete buttresses (to support the walls)
are craned in place and then Dairy Tech precast 175mm thick wall
panels are welded in place. The walls have two layers of Dairy Tech
mesh and are made of 40MPA concrete, as is the roof which is 230mm
thick with edges shaped for fitting to the walls.
The underpass is adaptable in length, slope and
height – a recent underpass being 3.2 metres high to allow for a
large tractor.
The underpass structure also includes precast
wing-walls, manufactured by Dairy Tech, to hold the entry and exit
banks. Above the underpass are low precast walls with galvanized
pipe safety rails for above-ground traffic. |
