TOP DOG GATES
The Top Dog Gate is an
overhead gate extending the radius of a circular yard or width
of a rectangular yard, which descends into a mob of cows to separate
a smaller mob for moving towards the dairy. A low current runs
through gate chains to prod stock only when the gate ropes are in
the "down" position. It offers the option of automated or manual
control.

The
Top Dog Gate manufactured by Dairy Tech is a gate system well
proven for the dual purpose of being a strong stock barrier in the
dairy yard and one that can quietly separate a smaller mob of cows
for prompting towards the dairy bail area with minimum fuss.
'Top Dog'
is operated:
-
manually or automatically,
-
within
circular or rectangular yards,
-
with
optional high pressure spray jets for washing a circular yard.
Each `Top Dog' boom manufactured
by Dairy Tech over the past 10 years has been designed to the client
farm's specific dairy yard measurements.
It
extends the radius of a circular yard or width of a
rectangular yard.
The gate is called a
Top Dog because it is maneouvered overhead and then lowered among
the yarded cows to separate
a smaller mob for heading into the dairy.
A low electric current runs
through gate chains to prod stock, but is "live" only when the gate ropes are in
the "down" position. A safety feature is that there is no
current flow in the gate ropes when in their "up" position.
The gate can be
controlled by way of a manual or automated control system. The
automated system offers the option of pulsing forward as the cows
come off the platform.
The
directional drive is through a right angle reduction box and chain drive
with nylon rollers. The wire winder unit has a separate motor and is
designed to raise and lower the electrically charged prodder chains.
There is
a 12 month warranty on the `Top Dog' gate when installed by a registered
electrician.
