GATES

The gates manufactured by Dairy Tech are the:

• Top Dog Gate

• Butterfly Gate

• Backing Gate.

The gates are to control the movement of cows in the dairy yard and through the dairy.

Dairy Tech has been manufacturing gates for 12 years and has continued to improve designs to enable more efficient stock movement as well as incorporate new technology for automated gate controls.

The Top Dog Gate is an overhead gate extending the radius of  a circular yard or width of a rectangular yard, which descends into a mob of cows to separate a smaller mob for moving towards the dairy. A low current runs through gate chains to prod stock only when the gate ropes are in the "down" position. It offers the option of automated or manual control.

The Butterfly Gate is usually a 'concertina' style of gate that opens to the width of the herringbone row at the end of the pit. It only allows one-way traffic and is operated manually from anywhere along the pit.

The Backing Gate extends the radius of the yard and sections off an area of the yard for easier control of stock movement.
