CONSULTANCY
Peter Gray is often approached for consultancy
by farm owners and dairy operators.
He was also consulted by Occupational Safety
and Health for its review of farm safety regulations for rotary dairy designs
-
recent issues are the minimal, safe gap between rotary bails and
head-and-breast rail and easier access to emergency stop controls
from anywhere on the platform.
Peter is asked to improve cow flow design in
existing sheds and to install modern Dairy
Tech components. An unusual request in 2005 was to help with the
design of a revolving restaurant floor.
His practical design flair has been
applied to other diverse projects such as a steel-truss framed helicopter hangar
and a precast spiral, internal stairway for a new house. Recent
projects include an octagon-shaped precast “silo pads” that meet
Fonterra’s updated requirements for milk vat stands.
Also earning wide recognition is a sectionalised design of precast concrete underpasses that
are more
adaptable to alignment, height and length variations.
MAINTENANCE
A Dairy Tech team of experienced
and trained personnel has the ability to fix breakdowns on site.
A breakdown can require urgent response,
particularly when cows are waiting to be milked, and a call to Dairy Tech or
Peter’s mobile 0274 936 867 (after-hours) sets the wheels in motion
to have the problem fixed.
